Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are designed to add volume, lift and symmetry to your face, giving you a refreshed and natural appearance. Most popularly used to plump lips and enhance the cheek bones, dermal fillers are a versatile treatment that can also be used to correct fine lines, smooth deep creases, restore volume and even reshape the chin and jawline.
There are several brands of products available at our clinic all with TGA approval.
Benefits of Dermal Fillers
How it Works
-
The most commonly used dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in our bodies, including in our skin, eyes and joints. Unlike our own hyaluronic acid, chains of hyaluronic acid in fillers are cross-linked or bonded together. The thick gel-like consistency of fillers is a result of cross-linking. The amount of cross-linking determines thickness and longevity.
-
Thicker fillers are firmer as a result of greater cross-linking and can be used to volumise an area. Finer fillers with less cross-linking are generally used in areas where the skin is fine and smoothness is critical, such as around the eyes.

FAQs
01
How long do dermal fillers last?
The effects of dermal fillers can last from 6-18 months, depending on many factors. and in some cases longer depending on how fast the body metabolises the product. Lips are a high activity area as we use them all the time, this can impact how long the results will last.
02
How much filler should I have?
It is common practice to inject one mL of filler into each part of the face. For example, 1mL is a common volume injected into the lips. This tendency could be due to the fact that fillers are mostly packaged and sold in 1mL syringes. Furthermore, as the expected longevity of hyaluronic acid fillers is 6 to 18 months, they typically get re-injected every 6 to 18 months.
03
Are there any side effects after having Dermal Fillers?
The most common side effects occur within 24 hours or immediately post-treatment. These include swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness.
Immediate side effects usually disappear within days. However, depending on the type of Dermal Filler used, it can take a few weeks. At Laser Clinics Australia we strongly encourage a review appointment which is complimentary 2 weeks post-treatment to discuss your treatment results.
